Back to Blue Service

Poolie Team: Mar 29, 2024

Thank you for scheduling a “Back to Blue” degreen service with us! We’re committed to turning your pool from green to clean as quickly as possible. Here are five key things you should know about the degreening process and what to expect:

The Degreening Process

The process can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on factors like algae levels, leaves in the pool, and your pool’s filtration system.

Here’s how it generally goes:

  1. Initial Assessment: On the first visit, our technician will check your pool and equipment. If the equipment is functioning well, we’ll superchlorinate the water to eliminate algae and contaminants.
  2. Water Level: Please ensure your pool is as full as possible, even above the skimmer if you can. A full pool helps us work faster, since vacuuming debris naturally lowers the water level.
  3. Second Visit: We’ll verify if chlorine levels are staying high. If the water appears grey or milky blue, we either use flock to settle the cloudiness or rely on your filters to clear it.
  4. Third Visit – Filter Clean: If your pool has a standard filter, we’ll clean it during this visit to keep circulation running efficiently and help speed up clearing.Sand filters typically don’t need a full clean during the process, so we’ll focus on monitoring and backwashing as needed to maintain optimal flow.
  5. Fourth Visit and Beyond: Once the water is clear, we vacuum all debris from the bottom. Some steps may be repeated depending on how your pool responds to each treatment.

Top 5 Important Reminders

Along with the degreening process, here are five crucial points to remember:

  • It’s hard to predict our arrival time due to varying cleaning durations for each pool.
  • You don’t need to be present during our visit as we usually work in the backyard.
  • Ensure your pool has the right water level, ideally halfway up the skimmer or two inches from the top.
  • Ensure clear access to both the pool and its equipment.
  • Keep any aggressive pets away from the pool area during our visit.
